The Plantarium series was developed as a research based media artifact project during my studies in the Fine Art Experiental Media programme of Praue City University.  I conducted in depth research regarding 9 plants and their effects on the human body. Based on the collected information I developed a visual narrative to illustrate the relationship dynamics and effects. Beneficial effects on pecific organs are illustrated by a supporting visual description as the body parts literally grow out of the plant, while in cases where the beneficial effects mean the expell of undesired conditions, there is a detachment. Poisonous plants are composed together with skulls, and where the scientific evidence for healing properties is not yet substantiated by contemporary science, the plant embodies the form of the human organ, based on the principle of the medieval "Doctrine of Signitures". For developing a visual communication method, I borrow the techniques from medieval encyclopedia that intended to convey useful information without words - making useful knowledge available to everyone.
